Thank you for your interest in the role of Animal Attendant / Cleaner / Driver.
We have a current Part Time vacancy for an individual to assist us locally with Cleaning, Pet Care and associated services. The following information is provided to give prospective applicants further details to decide whether the position is suitable for them before applying.
Dogmovers is a small family business based in QLD, with an additional depot in NSW. We transport pets, primarily Dogs & Cats, throughout Queensland, NSW, Victoria and South Australia. We operate similarly to a long distance bus service with a number of set weekly trips operated to a regular timetable plus we provide more Specialised Custom services on demand and locally.
We are seeking to employ a local person on a part time, casual basis, to support our local staff and Interstate Drivers with the care of animals that stay with us overnight during their interstate trips and the cleaning of our animal facilities, vehicles and trailers. The majority of the work will be cleaning and basic animal care but preference will be given to applicants also willing and able to assist with local Pet Taxi deliveries throughout S.E.QLD including to the Brisbane Airport and who are able to be flexible with their work hours, including occasional early morning or evening work.
This role is available for immediate start and may suit an individual that is already involved in the Pet Care industry such as a Kennel Hand, Pet sitter, walker or groomer or someone with Animal Care training. The successful applicant will require an open Drivers licence, preferably the ability to drive Manual vans and their own transport to get to and from work.
There is the opportunity for additional hours and possibly full time work for a person who also has some mechanical apptitude / handyman skills and can assist with the regular check-overs and light maintenance on our vehicles and trailers. (this does not include servicing or detailed mechanical repairs)
Hours and Remuneration
This is a Casual – Part Time position which will involve around 20-25 regular hours per week for the cleaning and animal care aspects of the role. Plus additional Pet Taxi work on demand. If also encompasing the vehicle checkovers this role would likely be close to 38 hours per week.
The normal hours range between 7am to 6pm on Monday – Friday with the busiest days being Monday & Thursday. But the role also requires some later evening work, typically on Monday and sometimes Thursday evenings till around 8pm. On occasion it may involve earlier morning work for Pet taxi deliveries or in unusual circumstances and some flexibility is required. The timing of most of the work is generally regular and reliable. While we have some flexibility for the actual hours of work on some days the successful applicant would need to be generally available at the times above. Weekend work is not typically required but may be available on occasion.
For the right person with appropriate experience or with a reasonable mechanical aptitude there would be the opportunity for further additional hours assisting with the regular checkover and light maintenance of our vehicles and trailers. There is enough additional work available for this role to become full time.
Remuneration is expected to be $29-32 per hour, plus Super, based on age & experience.

The Animal care aspect of the role involves receiving and caring for animals from our interstate drivers that are staying on site overnight during their interstate trips. This may require morning and evening work once or twice per week and includes walking feeding and monitoring the health of dogs, cats and other animals and cleaning and disinfection of cages and equipment.
Driving
The Driving aspect of the role will require a confident and experienced driver with a Manual licence. We have a range of vehicles, typically these are commercial Vans and you may be expected to drive different vehicles at times. You will be moving vehicles & trailers around the property and assisting the local manager with delivery of vehicles or trailers to local maintenance workshops. The bulk of Pet Taxi jobs will be local deliveries around Brisbane or to the Airport however there will occasionally be longer trips throughout South East QLD and it may involve towing small to medium dog floats.
Vehicle Checking / Maintenance
For those interested in the additional machanical work this involves completing regular checklists as part of the quality control of our vehicle & trailer fleet. You would need to be able to test drive each vehicle, check and assess such things as fluid levels, tyre wear, brake performance and report new issues that need attention. On the trailers you will need to assess and adjust wheel bearings, brakes, tyres, cage hinges & latches and bodywork. Minor repairs such as changing wheels, riveting hinges or body panels or replacing locks & latches would be required. we can teach you to do many of these tasks provided you have some good general handyman and basic tool useage skills.
The role requires working closely with our local staff, interstate drivers and management as part of a small close knit team.
